My favourite lipstick ever.

So since I started this blog I've been on a quest to find my perfect lipstick in terms of both colour and formula. Over the past year I'd say I've acquired over 50 lip products, including glosses and tints and up to now none of them have really thrilled me. It seems to be the formula that just doesn't work for me. I've tried 3 different MAC finishes; Creemsheen, Matte and Amplified, and I have to say Matte is my favourite of the three but I found I had to keep topping my lips up with balm otherwise they'd completely dry out. I've tried Rimmel Moisture Renew but they were too creamy and smudged all over my face, the same with Collection, Illamasqua & Revlon.

However, whilst I was scrolling through bloglovin a couple of months back I noticed a lot of bloggers were raving about MUA's £1 Matte Lipstick range so I thought they were definitely worth a try for a quid! I bought 4 shades, Wild Berry, Pouty Pink, Peachy Keen and Scarlet Siren. I have to admit the first three shades are a total waste of money as there is barely any colour payoff at all but I was pleasantly pleased by the shade Scarlet Siren.

The lipstick comes in MUA's classic straight bullet with the little colour pot at the end which unscrews, however the matte line is white whereas the standard line is black. The casing is very sturdy and looks a lot more expensive than the price.

As you can see the colour payoff is gorgeous and it is so pigmented, believe it or not it's one of the most pigmented lipsticks I own besides my MAC ones. Even though it is supposed to be matte it feels really creamy on your lips and glides on nicely with out any tugging. It dries after a few minutes to a lovely matte finish which literally lasts hours and doesn't bleed. I still can't believe it only cost me £1. 

I've also had a look around to see what undertones it has, but apparently it is a straight red with no undertones. I think it suits my very pale porcelain skin and I've also seen some bloggers with darker skin wearing it and it looks great on them too. This seems to be an all round product that would suit everyone and I definitely recommend it.

Ive had my eye on muji storage drawers for a while, my collection keeps growing and I'm running out of places to store it all. I came across these ones on ebay, they look pretty spacious and very similar to muji, however they're only a fraction of the price! Heard some really good reviews about these.

5/ Owl Mug - £7.49
I'm moving back to Uni in September and would love this for my new kitchen, its just so cute!!

6/ Lilac Heeled Jelly Shoes - £7.99

Never thought I would say this but I've fallen for the jelly shoe craze! These lilac ones are gorgeous and I'm definitely going to be buying some for my hols in October!

Mac Vegas Volt Review

Hi girlies!

I went on a bit of a 'I've just got a new job and I'm so happy' splurge the other day and purchased my first ever mac items, which is so exciting! After about a week of deliberating I finally decided on Vegas Volt Lipstick and a Paint Pot in Painterly (which I will review seperately).

I've never really been a huge fan of lipstick because I think I've got really weird shaped lips and lipstick just tends to make them look even more odd, but when I saw swatches of Vegas Volt on a friends Facebook page I knew I just had to have it. Mac describes it as 'full power coral' and it really is. It's amplified creme, which as a newbie means absolutely nothing to me, but the texture of it is so lovely and it just glides onto your lips really easily.

As you can see it's really pigmented and you only really need one coat to get the full effect. I haven't worn this out yet but I've worn it indoors while eating and drinking and while there is a little bit of transfer it really didn't affect the colour on my lips.

Yeah £15 is pretty expensive for a lippy but for me it's worth spending it to find one that I like instead of spending £5 on drugstore ones that I never wear!

Overall I'm really impressed with Vegas Volt and it definitely won't be the last MAC lipstick I buy.

Top 6 summer lipsticks

Sorry it's been so long since I posted again, had a crazy busy week.  I had a job interview and induction all within a few days of eachother and had to go on a search for a uniform in the days between, which took forever as my body is oddly proportioned!  Anyway, I thought I'd just do an simple, quick  post today as the weather is still lovely outside and I'd really like to go out in it!

I've been really loving pink and sheer lipsticks this month and have managed to collect quite a few, but there have been some that I've worn more than others so I thought I'd share them with you lovely lot! I was originally planning on doing a 'Top 5' but I just couldn't choose between 2! They're in no order simply because they're all equally as lovely as each other.

2// Revlon Lip Butter in Cotton Candy

3// Tony Moly Lipstick in Cat Red

The Topshop lipstick isn't available online any more (Sorry!) but I wanted to feature it anyway because they have some similar colours (e.g.) and also because it's actually a really great lipstick for the price. They cost £8 and although the staying power isn't GREAT, they are so pigmented and have really great colour choices!

 Next is a Revlon Lip butter, I only bought this because I've heard bloggers raving about them and If I'm honest I'm not greatly impressed. These RRP at £7.99 but I only paid £3.99 for it because I got it in the boots buy one get one half price deal, which I think is fine but I'm not sure I'd pay full price for one. As you can see next to the Topshop lipstick it isn't very pigmented, however I'm not sure if this is just down to the shade I picked up. (Links to reviews of other colours would be greatly appreciated!)

And last but certainly not least is the Tony Moly Lipstick in Cat Red. I was actually sent this from a lovely lady in Germany and as I'm a self confessed crazy cat lady this is possibly the best thing I've ever been sent. So thank you again if you're reading! It goes on quite sheer, the swatch above is 3 coats so you could wear it really subtle or build it up for bold red lips. Staying power is great too it lasts nearly all day with the odd touch up after eating! I wish I'd discovered Tony Moly earlier!

This is an old Revlon Lipstick that I picked up in a shop that sells end of line make-up so unfortunately I can't find it online to give you guys a link, sorry again! However it really is a lovely sheer pink colour, one of those 'your lips but better' colours but it's also buildable to quite an opaque pink. Lovely and such a bargain at £2.99!
Next is the Elf Mineral Moisturising Lip Tint, I was sent this as part of the 'Elf Loves' promotion where if you spend £25 they send you a goodie bag of make up. The colour again, is very sheer and doesn't show up much on your lips but I think the product itself is lovely it glides on your lips really easily (kind of like lip balm) and the added SPF makes it perfect for protecting your lips in summer! I'll definitely be buying another one of these in a darker shade.
And lastly is the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Rendezvous which is a really pretty bold coral colour. I've never worn coral before as I always thought it looked quite silly having orange lips however I bought this on a whim one day and I absolutely love it! The colours not too bright so it doesn't look ridiculous at all and it literally lasts all day on your lips, its a brilliant little product, especially if you have dry lips.

Had a little nose around Liverpool town centre yesterday as I'm going back to Manchester today for the summer (woo!). I was on the look out for a natural eye palette because the only eye shadows I own at the minute are either black or grey (from my Emo days). So this is what I ended up buying:

Nivea Lipstick in Fuschia

I was so surprised when I saw this in Poundland. After a bit of quick googling I found out these should normally cost around £3 so I reckon I got a bit of a bargain here, and the colour is just so bright and lovely and looks so sophisticated (below)

 The best thing of all is it doesn't dry out your lips. This is a big problem I have with lipsticks and is why I tend to go for tinted glosses/balm. As its by Nivea it must have some of their lip balm in it because it stays glossy and smooth on your lips for ages. so chuffed with this purchase and will definitely be looking out for more in the future.

Rimmel Lipstick Lock

I've read quite a few reviews about Lipcote recently, and by what I've read its a bit of a waste of time. A lot of people have said it dries out your lips and stings like mad, so I've always disregarded it. Then I came across Rimmel's version so I thought I'd give it a go. I'm really unsure about it, it definitely does it's job and keeps the lipstick on your lips for aaages. However, it really does dry out your lips to the point that mine actually started to hurt. It would probably be alright if I were to put a lip balm on top of it but whether that would affect the staying power I don't know. Got a feeling this is gonna be another one of those products that sits in the bottom of my makeup draw for months without being used, ahh well.

Barry M Textured Effect Nail Polish

I saw the blue version of this on someone's twitter the other day - I haven't got a clue who - but I thought it was really different and cute, and being me I of course HAD to buy it, sigh! I don't really know how to explain the texture, it's a pastel pink nail varnish with sand-like grains inside it so when it dries it kind of feels like stone, I suppose? Barry M describes it as a 'grainy, matte formula'. Anyway, I think it's pretty cool and this is probably gonna be my new 'every day' nail polish.

Sleek Oh So Special Eyeshadow Palette

As I said at the beginning I was looking for a natural eyeshadow palette to replace my 'Emo' black eyeshadow collection. I've never owned anything by Sleek before but have heard a lot of bloggers raving about the brand, and in particular the eyeshadow palettes. This is the one I decided on basically because It was the only palette which I knew I would use every colour.

Some of the colours don't show up very well, sorry about that. Overall I'm really happy I bought this, I've got every colour I need for daytime (light colours) and night time (darker colours) also there's matte and glittery shades. It's probably the only palette I'll ever have to buy, and I'm deffo going to get a lot of use out of it.
